Beware...fairly large look at me and give me wows post!
So for those that don't know, I came here as rossyamaha due to me, well working at Yamaha and not being able to think of a better username. Kind of did what it said on the tin.
I left in Feb 2017 and became a full time musician as some opportunities came up that I couldn't turn down but also couldn't do as well as my day job which was in sales. I didn't change my name on here as I guess I was still working for them in some capacity and was still a relatively decent resource of info.
So a year and a half of gigging, touring as well as doing some freelance stuff for Yamaha/ Line 6 has been awesome. Loads of time at home, not having to worry about targets or spreadsheets or having to toe the corporate line (not that I did much of that). Financially as I'm sure any self employed person knows let alone someone that is a musician for a living, it hasn't always been easy. I haven't lost the house although have had some pretty hairy moments. We haven't had any nice holidays. Basically I've been pretty skint since I started this journey.
So in March I was approached about a possible role within Yamaha that was being created. A little while ago Yamaha created something called Yamaha Guitar Group that looks exclusively after Yamaha guitars, Line 6 and now of course Ampeg. The role was to be product specialist. Now going back to my original Line 6 days long before Yamaha bought the company, thats what I did. I was the product specialist for the UK. That was my all time favourite job. I love talking about gear and love helping people solve problems so it was perfect. A guy started with the company from outside the industry and didn't see the value in my role so me and a guy covering Europe were let go. That was hard especially 3 weeks before Christmas. I went through various jobs within the industry in a sales role but always maintained the product specialist hat as it seemed to work when selling in new gear.
So when the job came up I had to go for it. Fairly long process but as of today, I am back with them working for the Yamaha Guitar Group as Product Specialist EMEA. I work the the US but will still be based here with some travelling across the EMEA territory. Part of my job is creating content and coming up with cool stuff that no one has actually thought of. Like my Helix 4cm routing idea that I see a good few people doing now. Cause, you know, it's really awesome!
I will be posting quite a lot of stuff on my Youtube channel and if there is anything really cool I find I'll obviously let you all know.
For now, I'll be doing lots of prep, buying a new suitcase and looking forward to some new products which of course I will share with you as soon as I can.
Peace on toast

I look forward to hearing some great products from your neck of the woods.
Now .... does that new role mean you’ll be doing the guitar shows? Brum in Feb?
