It also depends on the original joint - it's *very* unusual for a Les Paul to come apart at the neck joint instead of breaking at the headstock, so I suspect it was like that Special in the pics above - a very poor fit with shims. Unless it's now been properly shimmed and glued thoroughly, it will always be weak. And there's no way of telling without taking it apart again... unless you know a friendly radiologist.
So I think Henrytwang's valuation is about right, or even a bit high.
