Have you tested the strength of the neck yet? If not, give it a couple more days - the epoxy continues to gain strength even after it appears to be set.
It does look like a very clean and tight join, you may get away without needing to splint it. It’s a bit worrying how poor the wood looks though!

No, not yet. I’m going to leave it until the weekend.
I agree re. the quality of the wood...

Is there an ulterior motive? i.e. Reinstate the headstock. Convince the owner that thorough refinishing is prohibitively expensive. Also, that the guitar *as is* is not worth a great deal of money. Then, acquire the guitar for peanuts. Bwa-ha-ha-haa.
@Funkfingers
*No ulterior motive.
*Owner has no intention of selling it (AFAIK).

Before proceeding further (ie. thinking about refinishing), I thought it prudent to see how the repair site would hold up (particularly as I’m using a type of epoxy I’m unfamiliar with).
I first refitted the necessary hardware and strung it up, tuned it a tone down and left it for a week. No discernible issues were evident, so I tuned it to pitch, and tweaked the truss rod - all seems well, so far.
I’ll leave it like that for a week or so, then see what’s what. It’s uncased, on a stand in my workshop (which is at the mercy of fluctuations in temperature/humidity), so if anything is initially going to shift, it will probably happen now (he said, hopefully).
