Awful thing to happen though, was an amazing building.
*According to Mrs.L, haven't seen an article yet
People celebrating.
Mind you I saw just as many far right posts on Facebook last night, blaming it on Muslim terrorists, quoting sources that say “there was a car found nearby containing gas canisters and papers with Arabic writing on”. Which turned out to be a news item from 2016. (And I bet the car belonged to a Arabic speaking plumber anyway). There are wankers everywhere, no matter what their religion.
Offset "(Emp) - a little heavy on the hyperbole."
I never know exactly how much value to assign to a building. Yes, on the one hand it's just stone and wood and that can be rebuilt - no one died. But on the other, the building took nearly 200 years to build. People from the 12th to the 14th century would have lived their whole lives building a monument to creation. It's been through periods of lack of care, of misuse, it saw the French Revolution, the coronation of Henry VIth, Napoleon, multiple occupations of Paris, Post-WW2 celebrations... in some ways all that stone is far less valuable than a single human life, but how many of the people from 800 years ago do we remember? That cathedral will be there long after we've all died and been forgotten, in all probability.
