Continuing with the “H7 in Normal Guitars Shock” theme, I tripped over these...
http://i.imgur.com/8byCNky.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/c8ESW6C.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/wUICQC0.jpgUsual Chibson foibles aside, the SG is a corker and plays brilliantly. The LP Standard plays really well and the triple-pickup Custom needs a full setup. Cost for the three was about the same as a cheap SH Epiphone Dot.
I’m already working out some drastic woodwork and hardware options for them...
...along with a £20 Tanglewood TSB94MT GBK. As you can see, it’s had a hard life. I’m not sure what added value, quality-wise is bestowed by the Entwhistle pickups.
The strings are as responsive as rubber bands and sound like someone hitting a plastic washing-up bowl with a saveloy.
Also, it weighs the same as a 1981 Vauxhall Carlton.
The Tipp-ex is a nice touch. Nice bit of damage to one of the locking machine heads, too...
Saying that, the guitar feels like a decent-quality instrument, even in its current state.

I’ll remove the strings and get the Tipp-Ex dots off the neck, then see what’s what later today. That locking machine head looks f*cked, though.
Comments
Tanglewood Tippexocaster would probably be fine with non-locking machineheads and its excuse for a vibrato blocked off.
In the words of Douglas Adams, none at all. Remove them and deploy them (separately) on your other projects.
I would be tempted to partially dismantle the Entwistle humbuckers to arrive at one with bar poles and one with Allen hex screws. Any imbalance between the coils would actually make the pickups more interesting. (Kinda like a Seymour Duncan '59/Custom Hybrid or a P-Rails.) Get your official wiring schematics here.
Is the Rover 75 not "retro" enough for yez?
Just started on the neck...

*As above, knackered locking machine head fixed. However, on restringing, B and E string locking mech seem ineffective. I’ll look at that another day.
*Can’t get all of the Tipp-ex out of the fretboard. Have cleaned and oiled it, but will need to do some research on that.
*Restrung, tweaked the truss rod and set it up. Plays great.
*Electrics need fannying about with, so that’s next.

Abuse the authority of your job to “borrow” both from work.

Oops. I mentioned banjos! Sorry.
A while back, Tanglewood manufactured a range of budget bass guitars, co-designed by Overwater.
