Poodle Pedal Parts Emporium Decoded

What's Hot
I’m looking at buying a kit from the Poodle Pedal Parts Emporium but have yet to decide which one, so I’ve been digging around to try to clarify what underlying pedals the kits are based on.

Does anyone have any recommendations for specific pedals? I’m after a light’ish blues/rock overdrive. I already have a Joyo Sweet Baby which is nice, but something with a little more oomph to it would be good.

Here is my list of decoded names. I’m probably wrong on some them so feel free to correct as needed…

I like the enlightenment drive - not least of all because it'll fit in a 1590a enclosure :)
A sig-nat-eur? What am I meant to use this for ffs?! Is this thing recording?

I terms of dirt and drives I have built:

    L'il Louie  (Lovepedal Les Lius)
    Blaster (Alembic Stratoblaster)
    Rat
    Muff (Ram spec iirc)
    Fuzz Face
    Fuzz Factory
    and the ever-present 1590A Super Hard-On

All are ace. great quality boards, good instructions and excellent customer service.

I particularly love the Blaster. It's "only" a 1-knob boost but it's got a slight mid-hump that is just perfect, particularly with single coils.

    More decodings:
MegaHIWatt - Catalinbread WIIO and RAH
    Filthy Fack - Fuzz Factory
    Rodent - ProCo Rat
    Ruckus - Suhr Riot
    Shred Meister - Marshall Shredmaster
Líl Louie - Lovepedal Les Lius

Excellent idea to have all these in one place. I always find myself trying to work out the puns every time I think of building one of the kits.

Great thread, it's like wandering along the biscuit aisle in Aldi trying to work out what they've copied.

Anyone for a Racer or a Titan?

He also responds very well to new kit suggestions - that's how I got the Blaster made. I wasn't going to find a real one but he had the kit on sale within about 2 weeks of my first email. Really impressive.

Board-mounted pots make builds really neat too, which is great.

I'm surprised he hasn't done a drop-in wah board for crybaby shells. I definitely reckon there'd be a market for that. I can feel another facebook message coming on!

I'm pretty sure the Joydrive is actually the Wampler Ecstasy, not the Bogner.

I've built loads of these kits - some of my builds and reviews are on his Facebook page - and they really are great. The boards are as small as possible so many of them will fit in 1590A boxes. I didn't know the Enlightened would fit in an A box - are you sure, Frankus?

I'm particularly enjoying the Ruckus (Suhr Riot) and Mucky Hush at the moment. I'm hoping we will see a kit of the MkIII DLS some time, but there's really only so many overdrive pedals that you need! The Echo Blue is superb and everyone should have one, and the Verb is a great reverb if your amp doesn't have one built-in.

  • Hi does anyone know what the Wrecktifier - High Gain Distortion is clone of? It looks a bit like a Wamper Triple Wreck?

Yup, built it, use it for bass and it's pretty heavy....and cool....and LOUD....lots and lots of gain here! For bass, don't bother with the boost circuit, it's not that useful. But on a skinny stringed thing like a guitar...it's pretty useful.

Peachy Fuzz == Frantone Peach Fuzz.

It's also very, very close to a Danelectro cool cat fuzz, close enough to dispell any lingering doubts anyone might have over where they got the circuit from... :-)

Very pleased with mine by the way, went together very easily barring the brain fade episode which led to me fitting the wrong value resistor twice in a row in the same place, and my wrongly identifying which end of the LED was which first time round. The "direct connect" daughterboard and ribbon cable option for the switch makes wiring the thing up about 1000 times easier and neater too, and I commend it!
Don't ask me, I just play the damned thing...
