Was a bit bored today (at home with man flu) so I created a little 5 min loop of something...
So heres the idea...
1) Download the track
2) noodle away for the 5 mins
3) you can do as many takes as you want then pick your best one take!!!!!
no comping, no edits, just record the noodle... ONE COMPLETE TAKE!!!!!
If anyone fancies it you can download the track here:
https://soundcloud.com/thefretboard/5-min-noodle-challenge no voting, no prizes... just lets hear what you noodled...
Send it to me as an mp3 to
covers@thefretboard.co.uk with the subject "I was bored as well" and Ill get a playlist going...
90 bpm in the key of C.
Cheers luvs.

Edit... Best take... but warts n all.
I had a very brief run through over a few bars (to get a feel for it) then sent my first take. This may come back to haunt me
Think of it as the vocalist has left the stage mid song... over to you to entertain the crowd...
It's one thing to noodle for 5 minutes, it's another thing entirely listening to a bunch of other people all noodling for 5 minutes each.
It's all in a single key too so a good chance to try some modal stuff.
I didn't mind listening to the 2 submitted so far - could hear the guys trying to come up with other things, could hear their safe places too - good way to break out of your "usual" licks. I can see how it's not for everyone but just doing this exercise for your own benefit is worth it at the very least
A good exercise- a few things became apparent.
- As soon as the 'red light' goes on I tense up and dry up
- I run out of licks fairly soon
- start cramping up after a while
(I think both are related to 'red light syndrome' as it does not happen often live, honest...)
Anyway, back to work..
Anyway, good lesson. Thanks @poopot
Been uploading old tracks I recorded ages ago and hopefully some new noodles here.
