prefer 24 big frets
Floyd
pups moderately hot [PAF Pro to Breed sort of hot], passive
prefer fingerboards that are flatter [16" is nice]
essentially Strats [not always Fender] with H / HSS / HH pup configs and a Floyd
so they would have been 21 fret [or like my '78 Fender modified to a 22 fret]
like EVH's early ones for example
I've always thought it meant a Strat style guitar with at least a humbucker in the bridge and almost always a Floyd type bridge.
24 frets would be very common but not necessary.
I've never thought that whether the neck was set or bolt-on made any difference.

Trying to categorise that which was never defined, is a bit of a bugger.
Hence the eternally continuing conversations
One or two humbuckers
Locking trem
Wide flat fingerboard (12” radius or larger) with jumbo frets
Pointy headstock
Slimmer or more square-edged body
No pickguard
... but I may be over-analysing it as usual .

For me, apart from the first one, they could all be absent and the guitar still be a superstrat. Yet if a guitar had every other one of those features but had no humbuckers I just wouldn't think it counted. I'd just see it as a strat clone with more "modern" features.
