Apparently there's a branch of flat earthers who don't believe in gravity. I just wish gravity would chose not to believe in them, and they can float the fuck away.

I'm not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me.

  • I think we need a good chunk of anti-vaxxers to travel to China while we're at it.

The gene pool needs a serious clean up.

    :( that’s sad.

Sounds like a re-run of the accident that nearly killed Evel Knievel at the Snake River Canyon jump - same technology, same parachute problem. Knievel was just lucky where and how he landed.

Sad that Hughes has died, but I have to agree it does seem a bit Darwin Award worthy.

Edit - no, worse... the parachute didn't just deploy far too early, it then detached from the rocket. He had no chance.

No doubt the conspiracy nuts will be claiming the NWO/Illuminati/NASA shot him down to prevent him exposing the flatness of the Earth.

  • Isn't the Flat Earth belief thing more a kind of symbolic front for heal not believing everything you're told? Or at least for some people, presumably not this chap

A steam-powered rocket ?  What was he expecting exactly ?

I think it was genius, the closer to the sun he gets, the hotter it is, so more steam is generated! If he ran out of water he could just grab a few clouds as he passed by to top up.

Do we know if there was an successful prototypes of this 'home made rocket' - To be fair to him, Apollo 1 was not exactly successful was it ? - I don't know how the budget levels compared along with access to 'key staff'

You'd love to see his note pad - At what point did he hope to prove he was right and how was he planning on recording the appropriate data

Easy to sit here and laugh - We probably wouldn't have discovered many features of planet Earth if we did like wise - Sad I know - RIP
