How would you get drums into a track

Continuing to record acoustic and vocals with the young’ un, the next track could do with some simple drums. Maybe just a kick and shaker or side stick. I’ve got no midi keys or anything midi at all and I’m using Reaper so no virtual instruments readily available.
What’s the easiest way to get a simple drum track in?
Was thinking of using GarageBand and exporting but feel it will quickly become a mess.
The billion drum plugins are mighty confusing.

I use this free plugin: https://www.powerdrumkit.com/download76187.php

Lots of basic patterns, or use it as a sound module to play back MIDI drum tracks. You can easily open up drum patterns in the MIDI editor window e.g. to take out stuff you don't want.

    MIDI rabbit hole ahead!

Record yourself scat singing the drum part and email it to me, I’ll chuck it into Superior drummer and find the nearest match and send you a wave file (or midi) of the part you can drop into reaper.
    Karma......

If you have GarageBand I'm guessing you're on a Mac. Create a track, open up the plugins, and choose AUMIDISynth (Apple). You can then go into the MIDI editor and choose channel 10 to bring up percussion sounds. Drop in some bass drum and snare hits or whatever.

Track menu up top... choose new track and then select “new drummer track”

it will stick a virtual drummer in you song for you... you can configure it quite a lot... it’s the same as in logic but in logic you can control it further...

As well as midi drums, don't forget audio loops. Lots of free sample loops including drums and percussion available. Look at the musicradar sample library to start. Easy to work with in reaper.

This is what I use too. Use the supplied patterns or create your own.
