Sad, but a good innings.

At least he leaves us his legacy and those brilliant and unforgettable compositions

    The greatest film composer ever.

    RIP :(.

Wonderful composer whose juxtaposition of instruments like electric guitar, voice and harmonica into classical set ups was inventive and moving. The breadth of his work was incredible and I was surprised to learn he got his first Oscar in 2016 for Hateful Eight - he should have had a cupboard full of them.

Just going to my friend's funeral today and the family are using the oboe solo part from 'The Mission' during the service.
    Powerful and poignant.

Just heard the news on the radio - Somehow a person few will have heard of, yet most will know  of some composition or another  - Few will know that he had a chance to be a footballer with Roma as a youngster - I think I first became aware of him via The Good The Bad and The Ugly and still try to play a version of it today - RIP to a legend

    Just heard this sad news.

His music from The Man With No Name spaghetti western trilogy will remain in my memory forever.

As someone in the comments section of the following video succinctly observes - "It's amazing to me how someone can come up with music like this, how can you think of something like this, It boggles my mind!"

The Ecstasy of Gold from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly:-

I loved the dreamworld and escapism that he created in my early years. I watched Once Upon a Time with my dad, must have been about 12, it's still my favourite film of all time. The music, the cool, the scope, the hardness of it. There's Cardinalie, Robards, Fonda, Jack Elam, and the majestic Woody Strode. But it's Bronson, that stole the whole show from everyone, he was just magnificent in this, Eastwood was nowhere near his level of suggestion and authenticity. It's hard to describe how some films like this effect you and stay with you to this day.

And then, there's always a different take on the genre and music. I was listening to this on TDK tape this morning,

And a truly fantastic movie. One of my all time favourites, together with Nuovo Cinema Paradiso (also with a gorgeous Morricone soundtrack).

Anyone who hasn't watched either of these movies, do it! And watch the Director's Cut versions...
