Posting statistics query . . ?

I wasn’t sure where to post this, but here goes.
Until about three days ago, my user icon had a blue disc attached to it, containing the numbers 118.
Next time I looked, the blue disc was still there but the number was now 1.
Something must have changed, but because I don’t know what the numbers signify, I don’t know what has changed.  Could someone explain what the numbers mean please?

    Possibly notifications which identifies the number of new times people have mentioned you or quoted you in threads. This number resets when you've read the notification. Click on your avatars and you should see a notifications tab. Click on that and it will show all mentions whether read or not. If total is around 118 then this is probably the case.
