Near scunthorpe? Like fusion?

What's Hot

Just got an email to say that Tom Quayle is playing over in Scunthorpe 17th July. You can get in for just £2! (or free if under 25!).

Sadly too far for me, but just look up Tom on YouTube if you don’t know him and see some seriously tasty fusion playing.

Here’s the blurb:

So here we go folks - guitarist Tom Quayle will be appearing at Café INDIEpendent, Scunthorpe, UK on the evening of Thursday 17th July 2014 starting at 7pm, finishing at 9pm ( see attached flyer image for more detail )

If you've not come across Tom before that's probably because he's been busy building an international reputation at guitar schools in Spain / Italy / Greece and the USA. Franks son Dweezil Zappa invited Tom to teach at his guitar camp in New York State last year and Tom has also been up on stage with Dave Weiner, guitarist in Steve Vai's touring band.

As one of the leading figures in the new breed of fusion guitar players, Tom is a regular demonstrator at the annual music fairs of NAMM in Hollywood and Musikmesse in Frankfurt - where he performs using his signature Fibenare guitars and his signature Wampler "Dual Fusion" pedal. Dave Weiner ( Steve Vai ) is also a user of Toms signature Wampler "Dual Fusion" pedal.

On the night Tom will be playing a few tunes, doing a bit of improvisation and demonstrating his guitars, amps and pedals. Tom has a pretty unique "voice" on the guitar, but if I had to reference anyone it would be Allan Holdsworth. If people want to see more events like this happening at the Café please come down and support Tom and the Café, so that it makes future events viable. Food + hot and cold drinks are available in the Café during the evening.

It's free entry for under 25's and £2 on the door for over 25's.

Space will be limited so please register your seat in advance by emailing your name and number of seats to

john@stuntedrecords.co.uk

Look forward to hearing from some of you and hope to see a good crowd there :-)

It's the blatent shilling that I find a bit distasteful. Nothing at all against Scunthorpe.

Disagree. I'd call it a great PSA for the forum from axisus. Two quid or free is incredible to see Quayle. Unfortunately, I'm WAAAY too far away. Like, almost a thousand miles. What is also unfortunate is that this thread isn't more about Quayle, who is – at a minimum  worthy of investigation, whatever style of guitar you're into.

Indeed! I have nothing to do with this in any way, shape or form, it is just an amazingly cheap ticket to see a musician that I admire, even though obviously no-one else here does!

I think it's a bit sad if you can give a heads-up about a worthwhile, cheap gig on a guitar forum ...

He certainly can. Had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with him at a recent gig in Leeds, where he guested on the lineup. Chatted effects for ages, unfortunately couldn't sell him one as he's endorsed by Wampler. Thoroughly nice bloke and an incredible player. Check out the guitars he uses too, beautiful instruments. Fibenare I think they're called, he has a signature model or two.
