You have to admire the innovative thinking of these people - wonder if they would be welcome at Pontins.

I keep looking at this thread and thinking I should say "cyclists"...

    ...but I'm resisting the urge.

A tad unfair. Having said that, some London cyclists get on my tits, particularly those that think a red traffic light is something that you just go straight through.

No, I disagree. These people SHOULD be allowed, because their actions demonstrate in impeccable examples of 'logical nonsense' in action.

Their actions also increase the chances of them being caught or ending up in such a way that would prevent them from driving entirely- also a prospect to be welcomed.

And the examples also serve to make people like us feel smug and check our own behaviour.

Fascinating anomalies, all of them. Do you think they had Boris Johnson as a driving instructor?

I once witnessed a car where the driver and passenger were holding a sheet of hardboard the size of the roof with their hands reaching out onto the top of the car. They'd just pulled out of a driveway and went the other way to me so I didn't get to see what happened the next time they stopped. There wasn't a news report about fingers in the gutter so maybe they got away with it.

I have to admit I once drove home with a 15' ladder in a Citroën 2CV...

I took the back seat out, opened the front of the roof and the boot lid, put the ladder right through the car and tied the bottom rung firmly to the rear bumper. Entirely legal I think. It was a red 2CV so it looked like some sort of comedy fire engine :).

I’m guilty too, I once rode 8 miles home on my motorbike with a boxed Marshall combo Gaffa taped to my back.
Tomorrow will be a good day.
