My username is the name of a Tom Petty band and two albums.
The first Mudcrutch album was the best IMO.

    Hi All

Q1:  Where did you username come from?  Comes from the idea that often creativity is a copying something else, then tweaking it. The uk got added because some american had xeroks on twitter.

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you? Edinburgh

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition? To start gigging again

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one? Difficult. Probably my MIJ Jaguar with Trisonic Pickups

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one? Also difficult. Search and Destroy by Iggy and the Stooges.

    Hi, first post ever!
    Q1 + Q2. I live in York, UK.
Q3. To play one song, from beginning to end.
    Q4. My hands.
    Q5. Beryl, by Mark Knopfler.

Other relevant facts: I’ve got Asperger’s syndrome, which in my case comes bundled with sensory processing disorder (SPD). When things get loud my vision starts to blur, and tactile input tends to trigger movements in other limbs (not fun with heavy gauge strings). I sometimes take things too literally. I’m 42, I’m married and have two kids. I have ‘played’ a bullet strat since I was 14 - I suck at it - but last year my wife gave me a nice Les Paul clone for my birthday and and so I tried humbuckers for the first time. Still in shock, but too afraid of mistreating the new guitar, I bought a vandalised Epiphone for peanuts and fixed the tuners, electronics, etc and have spent hundreds of hours learning and practising since then. I still suck, but not as much as I used to.
Adopted northerner with Asperger syndrome. I sometimes struggle with empathy and sarcasm – please bear with me.

    Hi all.

New here, so these are my answers!

    1. My first name, followed by my initials.
    2. Wiltshire
    3. Oh, just to have fun really.
    4. That's a tough one. Either my American Performer Telecaster, or my Blackstar HT-5R amp. I am really enjoying both at the moment, and as the arrived on the same day I'm still in the honeymoon period with both.
    5. Well that changes every few minutes... Right now, Sittin on the Dock of the Bay. The answer may change frequently, but there is a good chance it is either something from Stax/Steve Cropper, Bruce Springsteen or The Clash, hence the Tele.

  • Hullo, I'm new round these parts so here's my answers;

Q1:  Where did you username come from?

It's from a little known Leeds band called Help The Buffalos Are Crushing Me (feat. members of Tangaroa), they have a song called You Killed Hexjibber if I remember correctly, beyond that I just liked the sound of it!

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

    Milton Keynes, UK

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

To play some festivals and release an album on vinyl

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

Ooooh, erm..that's a tough one, probably my Tobacco Burst 90's Burny RLC (LP Custom-a-like), sounds amazing and is Gibson quality if not better in certain cases of the LP customs I've played/tried!

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

    Reckoner - Radiohead

    Wildflowers - Tom Petty

My name!  Sorry not that imaginative ...

To learn to solo adequately, and to summon up the courage to play live

Super tough!  But probably has to be my Atkin J45, got for a ‘big’ birthday and totally wasted on me!  Haha...

Too difficult.   But if pushed I’ll pick Sister Ray by the Velvet Underground...

My initials David Anthony William Brooke

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

    UK, Cambridgeshire - Papworth Everard

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

I was 60 last December so my ambitions are pretty low :-) I wanted to host a 60th concert but Covid has so far put paid to that. I would like to write and perform some songs (I have a Soundcloud site) but am not a proffessional musician so it is all "as and when"

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

Ooohh, tricky but I think my Fender George Harrisson Rosewood Tele (2016) is my favourite single thing

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

Not sure I can have a static tune as it does change on a regular basis. Rory Gallagher million miles away from the Live Irish Tour album would be up there with many others

  • Hi all, I’m Mark, just turned 34 and haven’t played properly for the best part of ten years now when cars and life took over with different interests and priorities haha.

Q1:  Where did you username come from?

First name and nickname, nothing exciting sorry!

Q2:  Where in the world/country are you?

Costa del Lancashire! Rain, wind and pie butties

Q3:  What's your main musical ambition?

I’m a bedroom player in reality, I play for my own satisfaction and not really a showman but I guess to nail down my theory.

Q4:  Your "best" bit of gear - just the one?

Currently I only have my old trusty ESP LTD deluxe EC1000QM which I’ve had ever since they were released which I guess is almost ten years now but it’s been gathering dust for most of them!

Q5:  Your #1 ever track - again, just the one?

Wow... ask me on any given day and you’ll get a totally different answer, possibly even genre and era haha it’s so hard to pick the one. I guess currently I’m in an Alter Bridge kind of mood so I’m going to say Blackbird

  • Hi folks, I’d like to introduce myself and Rockshell to the forum.

Rockshell has been making standard and custom effects pedalboards and pedalcases from our workshop in the Hampshire for the past couple of years, using traditional cabinet making techniques. (We started making audio-visual cabinets and furniture back in the 90s.) I hope you won’t mind if I post about our products from time to time.

Though Rockshell is a builder/vendor, music comes first. I’ve been playing out live for a (very) long time now - as well as sound engineering events for other performers. I am currently guitarist/singer in a rock covers band in the Southampton area called The Metrons and, like everyone, we just want go out and play loud again.…

Though I will of course be participating in threads relating to pedalboards, I will always endeavour to offer impartial advice and support for members designing/building/troubleshooting their effects circuits or wrestling with their PAs.

Q1:  Puddlesurf: processes (like wave propagation) apply on the micro and macro levels; wind blowing across a puddle creates waves, same as on the ocean. Waves are important…

    Q2:  From the New Forest

Q3:  Musical ambition is to squeeze out enough time to (finally) record an original album

Q4:  Best piece of gear is my Gibson ES335

Q5:  #1 ever track (today) Strong Feelings by Dry Cleaning

Big love to Fretboard member Hattigol for suggesting this forum, and to Lee for signing me up.
