This is sure to be an unpopular opinion, but I’m putting it out there anyway.
I think Suede’s best song is “Outsiders” from their 2016 album Night Thoughts. Lovely guitar tones, soaring chorus.

Got to be Metal Mickey for me, first time I ever heard it was 1993 in an illegal student club in plymouth.

Also liked so young a lot.  My brother was in the fan club and is in the video to the Drowners!

  • Not sure how to judge which is their best, they have some many to choose from, but favourites, yes. I did like the Night Thoughts album, but I only really listen to Butler era Suede, I did lose interest after that (and in 'britpop' in general).

My Insatiable One, a b-side, the guitar playing is incredible (as are many others on sci-fl lullabies),

She's Not Dead might be my favorite suede song, hard to say why, it's sad, moving, powerful, yet despite the subject matter  also quite soothing. It's a masterpiece.

Then there's the epic Butler tour de force, Asphalt World

Too many to genuinely pick one favourite over all the other great ones, but off the top of my head... Snowblind, on Bloodsports. One of the best comeback albums by any band in my opinion.

Everything on the first album is great, but my favourite song for singing along in the car is this:

Funnily enough I was listening to Coming Up this morning. Oakes really stakes his intent right off the bat as the ‘new boy.’
Opening three tracks alone are great - Trash, Filmstar and Lazy.

    Trash.

Still makes me want to get dressed up and take the missus out for a night on the town.

    Great album opener.

Yeah, I'd second the motion for "She's Not Dead", great song.

    Honourable mention for "Saturday Night".

I love Richard Oakes's playing. Amazing guitarist. Some tracks off Head Music are up there with their best...Everything Will Flow.
