    Agree entirely about Silver Springs.

Do tracks from US versions of albums belatedly added to the UK CD versions as bonus tracks count? If they do, Purple Haze, The Wind Cries Mary and Hey Joe on Are You Experienced? (If not, Stone Free wasn't on either original version, but it's not quite as essential).

Two specific ones spring to mind. They were closing songs. The Coral one only started something like 2 minutes after the 'last' track and was a complete surprise. The Interpol one is one of their best:

    The Coral - Time travel

    Interpol - Specialist

Hidden tracks on the original album don't count :).

I meant tracks that are not included on the original 'standard' album release but are on either a CD re-release/re-master, or a 'Deluxe Edition' - and aren't rubbish.

    A couple more...

Brandon Flowers - The Clock Was Tickin' (on Flamingo)

Calexico - Fallin' Rain (on Feast Of Wire)... Link Wray cover.

"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski

    "Just because I don't care, doesn't mean I don't understand." - Homer Simpson

  • She Likes Surprises by Soundgarden (on Superunkown).

Not on the album proper but included was a bonus track on international releases - does that count? The tape I bought back in the day had it on. Great tune.

The recent reissue of the Blue Nile’s ‘High’ album features the stunning ‘Here Come the Bluebirds’, which is better than any track on the original by a mile.

The reissue Kinks albums from the 60s have an amazingly comprehensive selection of bonus tracks -- I think the Village Green one is now 3CDs. A lot of these are just mono mixes and so on, but there are a few great singles like 'Wonderboy' and 'Days'. There are also some fantastic rarities like 'Creeping Jean' and ' Mr Shoemaker's Daughter'.

Dr. Feelgood - Down By The Jetty.  Loads of bonus tracks, both studio and live.

In that case I’ll have The Jam’s ‘No one in the world’ and ‘We’ve only started’.

The demo version is better than the track that missed the cut!

If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

Beat me to it. There was a slight delay between 'Like Suicide' and 'She Likes Surprises' on my old cd copy, underlining it's bonus track status.
Interestingly the track is included on the anniversary deluxe release but the delay is no longer there.

I would also offer up 'Not Guilty' from the White album. Been available for years in various versions and included on the full 6cd version of the 50th anniversary edition. So much better than 'Rocky Racoon' and 'Don't Pass Me By ' any day of the week.

INXS have a track called 'Move On', which is a strong song, albeit not properly finished. It's appeared on various reissues of 'Kick'. It was one of the first numbers put down during sessions for that album, but it didn't make the cut as it stood a bit apart from the other songs in terms of mood and feel. I still like it though.

  • I'm still fond of Super Furry Animals 'Roman Road' and 'Tradewinds' which never appeared on their original Rings Around the World lp.

Mostly I find bonus tracks disappointing but...

Poor Will and the Jolly Hangman - Fairport Convention Full House - different to guitar / vocal version
The Quiet Joys of Brotherhood - FC again - Liege and Leaf - Sandy vocal
Pentagram Spin - Steve Hillage - Fish Rising
This is the truth from hillbilly guitars!
