Must be some corkers in this category?

For my nomination I give you The Trials of Van Occupanther by Midlake, it must have taken them several seconds to arrange this.

Not the very best album or the very worst cover, but the first thing I thought of.

(A lot of albums on Shrapnel Records had bad covers but good contents!)

The Electric Ladyland cover with the naked women (with the implication they might be groupies) was pretty naff even at the time, and would be completely beyond the pale now.

Maybe they only had an hour, so they took the cover photo leaving half an hour to write the one good song on the album?  =)  ;)

Genesis Foxtrot has one of my fave ever pieces of music in Suppers ready, but the cover artwork was hideous - amateur, naive, zero understanding of perspective, looks like it was done by a 12 year old who isn't even taking art.

Having said that, I wouldn't want it with any other cover ...

Genesis covers were dreadful, that was the low point.

The original cover of Appetite for Destruction has to be another contender. Maybe the record company did it deliberately to try and get it banned and generate some publicity.

Steve Vai's Flex-Able - original cover. Just looks like it was drawn by a schoolboy.

Beyond a doubt, Black Sabbath - Paranoid.  A terrible album cover in its own right which looks like it was shot on a budget of 50p, but doubly jarring compared to the evocative brilliance of the debut album cover.

IIRC the album was originally going to be called War Pigs which does at least make some sense of the cover. And probably was shot on a budget of 50p, most bands would spend more time on demos than Sabbath did on that album.

Their Born Again regularly makes it to worst album art lists. By no means their finest hour but not entirely terrible either so deserved something better than a lino print done by a ten year old.
