I remember seeing him on TV in the 70s. I’ve used his mind mapping technique to set out my musical goals.

Hmmnnnn they lead with not his most impressive moment:

The thinker and writer Edward de Bono, who has died aged 88, once suggested that the Arab-Israeli conflict might be solved with Marmite.

My best mate at college was obsessed with a book of his. I didn't read books back then so have no real clue about him.

Yes, I just read his obituary too, and didn’t know his background.  I really do like his Cokoured Hats for meetings / decision making.   Of course you don’t actually need to wear the hats, but the idea that attendees collectively look at a problem from various viewpoints, and allowing “gut feeling” as one of them is quite helpful in the modern world where lots of professionals and experts seem to have a single view only

I don't know much about him although I know the name and various things that have filtered through into the language. I have a vague memory of him on TV only really because he was using an overhead projector whilst giving a lecture ( not very telly smart I suppose!) and the only person I knew then who used an overhead projector for anything was my father. I probably watched him because my father had it on.

    Wasn't that Tony Buzan?

De Bono identified thinking models to use in different situations and encourage people to venture out of their favoured approaches to thinking. A lof of the books re-illustrated the core ideas for new audiences, it's a real shame when we lose any of the people who write books to help us understand each other better.

Great bloke. Lateral Thinking still holds up extremely well.

A primary school near me uses his Six Thinking Hats concept quite successfully with the older children.
