I've corrected it now. A copy and paste error. Apologies I should have attributed the backing track to @poopot, not @digitalkettle (who provided the previous backing track).
Does anyone want to provide next month's backing track? Otherwise you'll be inflicted with one from me.
3pts @Bellycaster enjoyed the suspense and tone again very nice
1pt @poopot this should get 10 pts really for the ingenious mixing technique and the filthy wah sound alone but just pipped by the others as I preferred the phrasing more.
Tough one this month.
3pts @fastonebaz - is there anything you can’t shread over?
1pt @Bellycaster - happy feel to this…
5 points : @Bellycaster : This fitted the backing track best for me. Plus lots of melodic ideas.
3 points : @poopot : Very inventive sounds. Nice and sparse at the start. Then some very nifty picking.
1 point : @fastonebaz : Great Vai sounding solo. Loads of attitude and energy as usual. Would have been first based on the those factors, but I felt it wasn't as in keeping with the style of the backing.
I'm not sure I would have known where to start on this so am impressed with all four entries, but my votes go to:
5 points @fastonebaz - despite the tone being somewhat overwhelming in the context of the rest of the track, I thought the solo sounded the most natural across the descending chords, and superb playing of course.
3 points @stratman3142 - developed nicely and the best fit in terms of sound & mix
1 points @Bellycaster - I was pleasantly surprised by where this went.
Sorry @poopot, very inventive production (I read your notes on the other thread) but not quite hitting the mark for me. Nice backing track though!
Close call all round, very enjoyable.
3 points: @poopot (actually 2 points for the playing and 1 point for 'flex pitch' )
1 point: @stratman3142 (just edged @Bellycaster )
5 points - @fastonebaz
3 points - @stratman3142
1 Point - @poopot
3 Points @stratman3142 - This was a great solo and was the most fitting in terms of tone and style for the genre of the backing. Great phrasing and a funky feel. I was a very narrow decision based on personal taste for top spot.
1 Point @poopot - Some nifty playing in there and nice contrast with the subtle beginning. Interesting note choices all round. I dig the mixing technique as well.
