So, this is 1 of 2 Gibson R8 guitars that were recently acquired on my behalf in the US and sent over here.
The plan was for me to have 1, and a friend of mine to have this 1... however, he has since ran in to a bit of money trouble and is no longer in a position to be able to pay for it.

So, I'm currently out of pocket, as I paid for both under the impression he'd later pay me back for his (not throwing any shade here, I know how easy it is to get in to financial difficulties).

However, that means I can pass the saving on to one of you fine people, if any of you are in the market for an R8.
They owe me a bit over £3200 each, but I'll just round it down to £3200 to keep it simple.
I think the cheapest I've seen new ones going for over here is circa £3700, so an approximate 500 quid saving.

Obviously new and unused, so no damage/dings/scratches to report.
This is a VOS finish, so will have that slight patina/aged look.

Gorgeous plain top finish on this one (hard to do it justice on pics) with a lovely dark Indian rosewood board.
Weight on my bathroom scales shows 3.8kg (or around 8lb 6oz) - certainly no back breaker.
Neck is fairly chunky but far from being baseball bat size.

Comes with everything you'd expect a new R8 to come with (COA, hang tags, warranty card, reissue Lifton tan/pink case and a plain black Historic cavity cover for the back in case you don't like the fancier Gibson Custom one).

As mentioned above - price is a firm £3200 (now sold).
Would much prefer collection or meet up (I'm in Wigan), however I am also happy to box it up for you if you want to arrange your own courier.
I have a boat load of bubble wrap and other packaging material, so can ensure it is properly done.

Few pics and list of specs below, please PM me if you'd like to know/see anything else.
Not looking for trades, thanks.

    Thanks for the heads up @HandwrittenHero ;

I've actually tried both of these R8s - this was my favourite and one I'm considering if I can sell a few things and stretch my budget.

Both sounded amazing and looked even nicer in the flesh

Seems harsh. I like dark burst personally.

    Anyway, GLWTS.

    Is this a 2019 or 2020 model? Serial number is a 2019 I think.

Second digit on the serial number would be a 0 for a 2020. It’s not that big a deal but just wanted to check. Do you have a photo of the COA? Sometimes it says in there, sometimes it doesn’t. Serial # is always right though. I can’t quite read the serial in the pictures but think it starts 89, that would be a 2019 model (or 1999/2009).

is there any major difference between 2019 and 2020 production? I thought gibson had settled down with doing stupid manufacturing changes after 2018?

To my knowledge 2019 moves the Gibson logo slightly and introduced unpotted custombuckers over potted custombuckers and changed the capacitor from bumblebee to paper in oil. 2019 and 2020 are the same as 2021 to my knowledge*

    * think they’ve improved case a bit in 2021 but honestly get an aftermarket anyway still if you're taking it out the house, they look nice but I just wouldn't trust mine to actually protect the guitar

Yeah I thought 2019 onwards were getting really good from all branches of gibson. I picked up a 2020 les paul special from here and it is fantastic. Wondering what I can sell
