I'll stick to my cheapo Epiphone 2016 '58 'Korina' reissue Flying V, as l know I'd totally fuck up an expensive one gigging it.
I'm in no way cool enough to play either guitar other than maybe furtively under the cover of darkness :)

If only we lived in a world where a nice man in Croydon will make you a superior Korina V for around £3k...

Strictly limited editions, 81 Vs and 19 Explorers. Dunno if the price I was told is right but I bet you wouldn’t lose money long term if you invested in one of these.

its not an investment though really is it?

I am sure you could get a better return else where.
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Don't tell the people who bought these that.  They would think they just doubled their money.

I love how the world is basically one big pre-order.

What an absolute joke. Get a Feline built.

Also, Rev use Korina on all of their guitars (or most) and they aren't stupid money.

The braz board is nice but quite frankly I couldn't give two shits.

This is peak Gibson insanity. Greed.

I'm not saying this is a justification of the price difference - it definitely isn't - but "korina" seems to be almost as broad a term as "mahogany".

The korina used by Reverend and in other modestly-priced guitars - e.g. the old PRS SE One - looks nothing like the korina used for old Gibsons or the korina models PRS made in 2007-2010.

That's most likely because it's not Korina but Idigbo.

Speaking of which I really ought to get this one completed - we call it SOMA as it is a loose tribute to Joe Bonnamassa's Amos V

Other flavours are available too - these two beauties coming along too first with a pair of P90s, and the second with one of the P90s replaced with a Super Distortion kind of pickup

Many guitars have a re-sale value. Some you'll never want to sell.
Stockist of: Earvana & Graphtech nuts, Faber Tonepros & Gotoh hardware, Fatcat bridges. Highwood Saddles.

Pickups from BKP, Oil City & Monty's pickups.

Which one, the cheaper one (or both)?  I know - or think I know(!) :) - that what we normally call korina is white limba.

We will make a rather lovely V shaped instrument and have a choice of Limba or Idigbo woods and some lovely rosewood for the fingerboards .
I wouldn't swear that they will be millimetre perfect clones of the originals, but we will make a rather wonderful feeling and playing guitar in the right spirit.
Price will be in the £3k-£4K range

We no longer offer the "Tigger Lab finish" where we could have let Tigger sharpen his claws on the guitar as he sadly passed away last year, but we do have a new apprentice cat, who so far is only clawing the carpet but we're sure he has potential.

On the subject of the two woods - they are similar in many ways and are close relatives of each other as the latin/botnical name reveals

    Limba

Common Name(s): Limba, Black Limba, White Limba, Korina, Afara

    Scientific Name: Terminalia superba

    Distribution: Tropical western Africa

    Idigbo:

    Common Name(s): Idigbo, Black Afara

    Scientific Name: Terminalia ivorensis

Distribution: West tropical Africa; also grown on plantations

I did a cherry red mahogany one with V headstock a few years back

It balanced really nicely on a strap, and the V headstock suited it well.    I handed it to my cousin who said "it's a good job it's plays nice because that is f**kin hideous"  :D
