Miss munkee is taking A level music from September, she got through GCSE music by recording stuff at school or borrowing equipment. We have bought her a pretty decent PC for passing her GCSEs and I picked up from here an audio interface. I was looking at mic's for her to use for recording, she also wants to use it as a voice mic for gaming/on line chatting.
I guess we want a relatively small mic with a desk stand for sub £100 that will record decent quality and she can use to speak to 14 year old American's about emo music.
I have no idea if we're even looking for compressor mic or ribbon mic etc, do we need a shield etc.
Please insert your wisdom below and thanks for the workings of your mind.

Thanks chief.
Even with several multi thousand pound microphones here, when I am doing Zoom calls I use the mic built into the webcam.
SM58 is a good call for the other stuff.
