Clear tint nitro over poly

This is possibly a stupid question, but here goes:

I was thinking of spraying a light yellow-tint nitro over a lake placid blue type poly finish, to try and get a greenish/turquoise colour.

I searched 'nitro over poly' on here, and there was a thread where @SteveRobinson recommended using 800grit to key the poly surface.

I'm thus wondering whether my plan would even work -- would the degree of sanding required for the clear-coat to stick be visible through the clear-coat as scuffing?
