Converting a wah-wah pedal into a volume pedal

What's Hot
I've got a 30 year old John Hornby Skewes wah pedal gathering dust and thought it might be a good idea to make it into a volume pedal - is it easy to do?

No - it doesn't work properly because a wah pedal usually doesn't operate the pot through the full resistance range - so you get a volume pedal which either doesn't go to full up or full down, depending on how you set the gear.

Volume pedals have a slightly different mechanism with a bit of give in the linkage - usually either a cord with a spring to tension it at one end, or a flexible spring-steel strip - so the physical travel of the pedal can be slightly greater than the pot and drive it fully to both ends.
