  • Bright Onion. Simple, compact and does exactly what you need it to do

Don’t be tempred by a cheap one, you need one with transformer isolation and a phase switch. I would go Bright Onion, although something like a Radial would do the dame thing but at a higher price.

It’s only to switch channels not between amps

You mean to switch between, or combine different inputs on the same amp?  The Bright onion one will be perfect

Will you let me know what you think when you have one, I considered one for my gremlin and then thought I might as well just use a clean drive instead but I'd be interested to find out what you think.

  • Audiostorm trident is excellent for an ABC-Y pedal if anyone needs one. Awesome bit of kit.

Even if it’s just to switch channels on the same amp, often phase and very rarely ground lift switches are still useful, plus it’s then future-proofed for any other two-amp application.

"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski

    "Just because I don't care, doesn't mean I don't understand." - Homer Simpson

Absolutely - James at Bright Onion said the same thing and for the extra £10 or so I went for that one

  • Personally, I'm a massive Radial Engineering fan.

I have a few of their products (DIs, switchers etc) and never had a single problem with any of them. All very solidly built and a one-time-purchase kind of investment.

Teacher, musician, generally an enthusiastic and peaceful idealist. Run the Contemporary Guitar Performance Workshop education project and the Audio Design Workshop studio. Online guitar and piano/keyboard lessons available over Zoom/Skype.

    Bit bulky though

I think of that as "built to last" and "durable".

If you're going to use it in a studio then you'll need the quality of signal path, and if you're going to use it live, it's going to need to withstand the rigours of being under your feet on the stage.

Sometimes a 'purchase mindset' can influence what we see (like 'bulky').

I'm thinking in terms of (as much as possible) only spending my money once...

Have to say I couldn't be more impressed with my GigRig ABYBaby. Top notch quality and compact too.
