I could be wrong but don’t all the braz boarded versions have a flame maple neck? There’s an article about it somewhere online that says that’s the easiest way to identify them

“In 1998 the hardware was switched from chrome to gold and in 1993 the fingerboard was changed from Brazilian to pao-ferro rosewood, with a light figured birdseye neck due to the conservation of exotic woods. The early custom order 1990-1992 Robert Cray guitars are very desirable this days due to the fact that it had a Brazilian rosewood neck board. You could tell it has a Brazilian board by the light flame maple and doesn't have the birdseye maple neck“

Maybe yours is a cool anomaly as it’s a 92 with the Birdseye!

I had the Mexico version and it's amazing how similar they look, although yours has a much prettier neck and fretboard. :)

Yeah the mexican models are a good value for money. The early custom shop RC are another league though  Norlin4life said:Norlin4life said:

I did read the same thing indeed but Fender confirmed if it's 92 it's brazilian apparently The neck on this one has a bit of Flame and a bit of Birdeye, strange indeed but it's a stunning piece of maple. In any ways it's a wonderful instrument. (i know someone who have a 90' RC strat with brazilian fretboard and the neck on his guitar is plain with no flame and no birdseye).

Something like this maybe? this hartail has a lovely and subtle flame maple neck on the side of the neck.
