Fingerboard oil to highlight grain

I have a GSP G!bson Jnr I'd like some advice on.

The fingerboard has nice streaky rosewood and I'd like for it to be a teeny bit darker but without de-emphasizing the contrast in the grain. I applied lemon oil and it made it look bland and uniform, so stripped it off. Tru oil would perhaps do better, any other suggestions?

    Monty’s Montypresso followed by instrument food. Take your time and be prepared for multiple applications, but it really does work a treat in the long run.

    anything that makes it darker will reduce the contrast a bit as the light bits will change in colour more than the dark bits

    I wouldn't use anything with colour or stain, stick with some tru-oil - rubbed on and buffed off.  Let time do the rest
