I reduce my Strats down to 2 pots as the position of the original volume control gets in my way..
The electrics started as the electrics from a HSS Fender Player Strat..
I found the single coils boring,so I replaced them with 2 Fender Texas Specials I had..
This was a huge improvement...
It has a volume control with wires coming out of a hole in the middle of the switch..
It also has a very multiway switch,,way more options than the usual 5 way...
The Humbucker in there is a Fender Player series Humbucker..
Apparently 7.27 K...and Alnico 2 although sounds brighter..
It doesn't sound Dull, just lacks a bit of balls..
I know it would not take much more testicular heft to satisfy me....
I was thinking about a Dimarzio Fred,,but it may be too dull to run at 250 K..
The Mo Joe would be too powerful from the experience of owning one..
The Fred is supposed to be lower output...
I imagine it is supposed to be run with a 500 K pot though..
The Player series one works, but it is a bit on the thin and weak side..
Am I asking for the impossible for a drop in pickup here.. ?
The Seymour JB is far too high Output..
People have mentioned the Pearly Gates,,but do they have the fat mds like a Mo Joe has..
What about the output for matching the Texas Specials..?

Try a Duncan Screamin’ Demon.
Don’t be put off by the name - it’s actually a medium-output, hotter-PAF type pickup with a clear and open tone, but still aggressive and snarly.
If there’s a superswitch in the guitar you can do tricks with a 500K pot and a resistor so the single-coil settings see an effective 250K pot as well.

It is standard with the HSS Player Strat..
Thanks for the advice ICBM...
