I want to change the saddles on my 2009 USA std Tele from vintage modern to strat ones. Are there any sizing issues I should be aware of or would any Fender compatible ones do the trick?

I can't see what you've described bring an issue. I already have a non Fender tele with strat style saddles.

I'm just not sure if there are any differences in saddle widths I should be aware of

The bridge saddles of a 2009 American Standard Telecaster already ARE like those of a Stratocaster - the vintage, stamped steel sort.

The blocky, machined from solid saddles from the Deluxe and Ultra series used to have the intonation screw offset to one side.

GraphTech String Saver saddles will directly retrofit.

Strat saddles come in two widths - just check your getting the same size as current ones.
