I don't know anything about the band or what instruments they usually play but that did look like a lot of fun!

Ha ha fantastic! Although I could never really get on with Mr Big's music, I love both Paul Gilbert and Billy Sheehan.

Shades of Dream Theater - In the old days they used to do an encore as 'Nightmare Cinema' and all swap instruments. I saw that a couple of times.

The drummer is Paul Gilbert, normally the guitarist - you probably do know him.
The little guy who starts off on guitar is Eric Martin, the singer.
The guy who starts on bass is Pat Torpey (RIP), the drummer.
And the singer, who then takes over on guitar is Billy Sheehan, the bass player.

For me the best bit is Billy's vocals, I never would've expected that!  He does a great job.

Wasn’t Billy joint lead vocalist in Talas for years? So maybe not so surprising.

When I saw Purple with Blackmore he and Roger Glover swapped instruments for Smoke on the Water.

Good point.  I never really listened to Talas, for some reason I always assumed the guitarist (Dave Constantino?) was the singer.

Anyway, first time I've heard him sing lead.  He does a better job than most singers I've seen covering this song.  And a better job than Ian Gillan can currently manage.

Yeah Billy has a great voice. Really wide vocal range too.

Gillan in his prime wasn't that great live and has hardly been able to hit a note for years. I last saw him about four years ago with Purple and it was a bit embarrassing.

All of them are singing it better than Gillan does nowadays.

I've got one of his albums and his vocals are good.

Paul Gilbert is ludicrously talented. I love his solo stuff.
