Anyone heard them? Believe they are supporting Gallagher Junior at some big gig this weekend - realise that will put many off straight away lol....

I mean its. pretty derivative isn't it? Its the influence of the Verve, the Roses, Oasis etc..... all bands I like and these lads do it well - it just feels a little too contrived? More tribute to the music they love than blazing there own trial. Maybe I am being harsh - they're young lads and hopefully get a chance to grow into their own thing.....

I know exactly what you mean about the contrived feeling but I really like Deeper than Holy.

As you say, their influences align very closely with mine but I think they’re doing a decent job of it.

Now, their label mates Afflecks Palace are a different story. Apart from being The Total Stone Roses and Stellify Ian Brown tribute bands they definitely feel far too try hard and obvious.

The band in the OP seems to be called Pastel, not Pastels.

The Pastels, on the other hand, are a legendarily influential Scottish indie band.

So the song in the OP is basically Stone Roses but worse, and Deeper than Holy is just the Verve but worse.

I'm still waiting for a songwriting revival that will get us something as good as the best from Oasis, Blur, Radiohead, Pulp et al.
