It is the earliest Serial number JK series I have ever seen. Serial number A0185
It has an MJ Wound JB
The headstock on this JK guitar is very unusual in so much as the distance between the high E string tuner and the opposite edge of the headstock is 10mm-12mm wider than the later JK headstocks, this makes the headstock shape closer in size as in VERY close to the 84-85 Scarf joint tilt Barreta headstock. It should be noted though that this is a one piece neck and NON tilt headstock.
If you wanted these necks in 84-85 on a USA Baretta that were tilt headstock and were one piece instead of scarf joint or luthier joint then they were custom order. I know as I own 2 of them.
So this neck is unusual and desirable and if you want that shape headstock in a one piece neck and do not want to have to sell the car to be able to pay for the USA version then this is the one to buy.
To be certain there are definitely other JK out there with this headstock shape/width but not many that I have seen and you could count the numbers on 1 hand and this is the only one I have seen in person and the others I have seen are pics only and are few and far between.
The condition of the guitar is superb, the neck is lovely very good quality workmanship.
This Kramer was made back when almost all Kramers were being made in Japan and being badged as either USA made or JK as in Japanese market only.
This was very early on for Kramer and before the bean counters had got involved in cost cutting and as a result Japanese companies like ESP and Matsumoku still had free reign to do what they wanted and were using only the best materials available as they were highly competitive as companies and were determined to make their mark in the emerging marketplace.
I sold this as I needed money fast because I had the opportunity to buy a real 1984 Baretta at a price that was just within my budget and whilst I wanted to try a 'Real' Baretta I was driven more by the fact that the prices of real barettas from 83-85 are going completely ballistic and I knew it would not be long before the prices would not only be out of my reach but they would reach a price level where I could no longer justify paying the high prices for one so I sold stuff off and bought the Baretta just in case my window of opportunity closed.
Point is this... question?
Is my 'Real' Baretta any better than the JK1000 that Tabano has for sale here ?
NOPE The Baretta is definitely not any better , they are just as good as each other and I can tell you now a Baretta is going to cost a lot lot more.
If I had the money I would buy this back in a heartbeat and I would also add that the seller Tabano is really a very nice bloke to deal with and he makes some good music as well.
Good luck with the sale
much appreciated!
