In the early days Neil Peart was inspired by the writing of Ayn Rand, I don't know a great deal about her but I think aspects of her philosophy were, or were considered, right wing.

And the NME called "The Trees" a vicious attack on the trade union movement.  Or something.

But no, they're not right wing, as far as I know.

not really sure that's the crux of their music intent,   well TBH 99% of "rock n roll" lyrics are shit, especially when its all about the "riff"  or  pretentious twaddle if not

so after that quite eclectic list of hates that appears to cover every genre................ what DO you like (genuine interest

The lyrics to 2112 were supposed to be based on one of her novels (not that I’ve read a word of them). She had a sort of purist vision of capitalism and supposedly widely read by and influential on several US presidents.

As a movie buff you may have seen The Fountainhead with Gary Cooper, which is based on her novel, or there is a more recent film trilogy based on Atlas Shrugged. There are also a couple of films about Rand.
I have watched bits of interviews with her and it’s reasonably difficult to believe that someone who presents as every bit a right wing nut job was regarded as an intellectual and important economic thinker (the novels apparently include quite a lot of erotic content which may have made them more accessible to the young Donald Trump). In Peart’s case I get the impression that he was just showing off his literary knowledge but yes Rush made an album based on a novel by someone who is very right wing. Although that was in 1976, the lyrics are pretty much gobledigook and I don’t think they’ve ever done it again.
