Formerly of the venerated @DB1 of this parish.

It's a stellar guitar, one of the best feeling necks I've ever played (not an exaggeration). The fretwork is second to none and the overall vibe of the guitar is special.

Original description from ATB Guitars when it was sold by them:

Stephen Stern is the BEST, well that’s what one forum post claims at least. Spearheading the custom shop at Gretsch for many years now, he is highly regarded amongst the guitar building community and players alike for his craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Though this guitar may not be one of his stunning, one-off NAMM creations, it certainly bears all the hallmarks worthy of the signature on the back of the headstock. Decked out in sultry, vintage-correct two-tone Smoke Green lacquer finish, ligthly aged for that under the bed look, this G6118 certainly looks the part.

Featuring a pair of TV Jones TV Classic pickups for that oh so classic Filter’Tron sound, married to the almost essential Bisgby B6C, this beast surely delivers on tone, providing the substance to match the style. Trestle braced maple laminate body, ebony fretboard and pearl thumbnail inlays, what more do you want from your Gretsch. One of only a handful imported into the UK, this is your chance to grab a truly fantastic guitar.

I just missed out on this when @DB1 was selling bit was lucky enough to get effectively its twin from @williaaaam

Absolutely lovely and yours has a few extras case candy wise by looks of it.

Mine will be going into a coffin with me in all likelihood as I can't see myself ever wanting to part with such a lovely instrument which, as you highlight,  would cost around 8k and a few years' wait to order new...

GLWTS someone is going to get a stunner.

I’ve never played another Stephen Stern before but if yours was anything like this one, I wouldn’t blame you @AlexO!

A dealer in Oregon has offered me the £3500 and international postage but I’d prefer it to go here if possible (and frankly not deal with the faff and paperwork of international postage).

Cheers @TheMarlin. I think it gets a lot of things right as an instrument. The trestle bracing gives it all of the good feedback resistance you’d expect from a semi-hollow but without the weight and with the added bonus of a much better acoustic experience when sitting on the sofa. Stephen Stern also nailed the finish. Super thin, with a feel that I’ve only experienced in 1940s and 1950s guitars.
