I have 2 Waltone guitars, so selling one, as it gets little attention. Ken Walton was a brilliant guitar maker from Co Durham. This is his number 25 guitar from 2000, a totally hand carved and built hollow body, made after the Benedetto pattern, It is light, resonant, and plays effortlessly. Lovely spruce top, fantastic flame maple back, sides & neck, and two HB pickups. I like Waltones as they sound loud and bright acoustically, unlike heavier-built factory guitars. The fretwork is perfect, and all of the other work, such as the ebony bridge, pickguard, etc. is hand carved too. It is in a hard case, and condition is excellent. There is no damage and no repair work. Great tuners and it really sings through an amp. It isn't just a jazzer, it is a lovely guitar for just about anything, but may feed back at volume if you sit in front of the amp! There's a tiny couple of maker's marks next to the bridge pickup where there has been a couple of tiny pieces of spruce on the surface removed when the hole was cut. I had a thing like this in an actual D'Aquisto guitar near the binding once, and realised that a good maker allows a couple of minuscule flaws rather than waste an entire carved top.
Not a condition issue really, as it was made like that and the lacquer goes over it (hard to spot on a photo).
Anyway, it is a handmade guitar, is fantastic, and I'm moving guitars I don't play much. I have my other Waltone, which I would not pair with in a hurry. Why pay all that money for an L-5?
Shipped for £1800. UK only.
Update! Just added a closeup of the mark near the bridge pickup; it is under  the A string towards the bottom E, and there's the shadow of a tool mark running from it. This is under the original lacquer, so it a manufacturing maker's mark, not an accident!
It doesn't look as prominent as in the photo, if tried to show it as best I can. If you look at the photo of the full front of the guitar, you will see it is not really noticeable.
Scale length is around 25 1/2" like an L5, and the tuners are gold Grovers. I've not had the pickups out. No reason to, as they are original equipment and sound great.
There are a lot of reflections in the photos. The guitar has no dings or scuffs other than the above mentioned.

Looks a beauty. Is it the same dimensions as an L5?

More or less the same, yes! I believe that Ken used the patterns from the Benedetto book. Weird thing is, I bought an original Bob Benedetto guitar the same year, and the Waltone beat it hands down. The playability and tone were so much more alive. Sold the Benny. Bought another Kenny.

It looks beautiful and the amount of work that has gone into it make it seem like a great deal too.
