I've just picked up one of these new Ibanez multiscale 6 string basses. A BTB806MS-TGF.
It's an absolutely amazing beast of a bass with a scale length of 37 inches on the bottom B string.
Because it is multiscale the tension is pretty consistent across all the strings and that bottom B is tight and responsive.
I used to own a Peavey 6 string Grind bass and that was not fun to play, the bottom string was flubby as hell and being passive the instrument was lifeless. This Ibanez is like from a different bass planet.
I used to think multiscale basses were a bit of a gimmick, but going by this instrument, I've been proved wrong.
