Been thinking about the golden years of guitar recently. This must be the ultimate path:
Late 1960s - be in a critically acclaimed group
1970s - Tour either with band or solo enjoying the world
1980s - Arrival of MTV. Go commercial. Make your money
1990s - Disappear and enjoy life. Odd gig or special CD here and there.
2000s - A comeback of sorts. Critically acclaimed again. Maybe get the old band back for a gig or two.
2010s - Appear on people’s records. Be recognized as a major influence. Tour.
2020s - Appear on YouTube here and there and do the odd tour. People pay mega bucks for your concerts. Enjoy life.
That has to be the ultimate rock career path. It looks a lot like Clapton or ZZ Top. Maybe Springsteen.
