Genuinely... its the neck pickup on a Tele Deluxe and the middle position that give it the unique sound. The bridge unit on its own isn't that different to any other bright humbucker equipped guitar. I say that having owned a few... so I don't really understand the enthusiasm for having a guitar with too much plastic on the front and less sonic capability...
But then, I guess I'm not a rawk and methaaal player.

IIRC, there was a short-lived solid body mahogany Tele with P90s at one point - late 90s or early 00s, I think.
As for "when am I ready?" You'll never be ready. It works in reverse, you become ready by doing it. - pmbomb
and i also lusted after a tele jr too since reading a guitarist review of one.
No idea why anyone would want the esquire deluxe - its just a proper deluxe with a bit missing.
