  A lot of these "string conditioners" (for want of a better expression) quite specifically say "contains no silicones", but I have a feeling that some of them contain teflon because they leave a slipperiness on your hand long after you have wiped off the oiliness if you apply some to feel it.  I'm not sure whether molybdenum disulphide is available in clear or non-black colour, because "moly" additives really reduce friction more than anything I've used on mechanical parts.  The problem is that any "moly" products I've ever used like engine and gearbox oil additive, spray-on "molycote", etc, are all dark black and stain everything they touch.  I must look up the contents of Servisol switch cleaner and lubricant, because that leaves a slippery but "dry" residue.  [EDIT] Glycerol MonoOleate.

  Fast Fret had a smell which reminded me of something. I think it might have been Duraglit metal polish, or maybe even WD40? Would plain mineral oil smell that much?
