I have a young friend who is starting up playing and wants to buy his first guitar
i was thinking maybe one these Jets might be suitable but thought i would ask around here first
i would have gifted him my Harley Benton but just sold it last night :-(

If you were prepared to do a setup, maybe block the trem temporarily while your friend was learning, and perhaps smooth off the fret ends, these are very good value for money:

The dual-fulcrim trem bridge with push-in arm is actually very good quality for this price range (£159 shipped but out of stock), and the pickups are comparable with Wilkinson Alnico V pickups. The fretboard is of composite material, but is a lot smoother and nicer looking than most of the poorer quality woods often found on guitars at this price. The reason I have mentioned this one is because I have one and like it, and also because they have a B-Stock one for £129 that I would have bought myself if I didn't already have one.

The fault has been given as "two small scratches/marks at the back of the neck". There's a risk involved in not knowing how "small" or deep they are, but the neck finish is satin and if they are shallow they could probably be buffed with very fine wet & dry paper.

They don't have a lot of guitars in stock right now, but Artist Guitars currently have their "Grungemaster" in 3 different finishes for £149:

I've a JS400 (?) in pink. Practically unplayed condition - that is, I had a strum, thought this is a wicked guitar (apart from the pickups) and it has been untouched in the corner £120 posted or hit me with an offer?
