My brother had both the Big Black albums. They, along with Husker Du, were hugely influential for me. Up until then, I couldn't see past UK post punk.
Big Black sounded like nothing I'd heard before and opened up a whole new world of music. Albini's music has pretty much been a constant since then - all my adult life.
That's shocking. RIP.

I have never forgotten his descriptive term for the major labels (particularly as I work for one) - "the big high building" - unique description.
