Are there any mini delay pedals that are any good?

My Tonex should arrive soon and I’m putting together a little board and other than the Tonex I want to use mini pedals to cram as much on as possible. Apart from my OC-5 because nothing comes close.

Tuner > Phaser > TS > Octave > Tonex > Delay

It’s the delay that I’m struggling with. Loads of mini options but none with universally good reviews.

Any ideas?

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

  • What sort of delay are you after and what are wanting to use it for? Analogue, Tape, Digital?

All depends on your tastes. I have an MXR Carbon Copy mini on my board and it sounds great. No bells and whistles, but then I don’t need any.

xvive echoman is very good if you want analogue with modulation/DMM style.  I bought mine on here second hand but they're not that expensive new. I like the look of the mxr carbon copy micro version as well but I've never tried it.

That was what I was going to say.

The XVive delay is designed by the guy who created the DMM.

The Carbon Copy Mini is awesome. Actually more fully-featured than the regular version too.

If you want more of a digital delay sound the Mr. Black Mini Echo Delay covers that off and also sounds really good.

I’ve only ever had simple delays like a very old Arion and a DD-3.

    Quite happy with that simplicity.

Flashback mini. I also had a Sonicake Echo Rain that sounded great and cost about £25 off Amazon.

I have a Mooer Ana Echo that I really like. I don’t know if it’s actually an analogue delay or a digital delay “voiced” to sound like an analogue delay, though

I have the Carbon Copy Mini. It does the job for me, but I’m not a big delay user. I’ve heard good things about the Ibanez Mini Delay, too - I can vouch for the wider Ibanez Mini range, three of which are on my board.

Yes!!! Great lineup of pedals. Not a duff one in the set. Built like tanks too.

Other than the mini TS I had forgotten about the Ibby options.

Going slightly off topic, I have the TS Mini, Chorus Mini (mono CS9 with a blend knob), and 850 Fuzz Mini (the 850 “Overdrive”, actually a middier tweak on the Rams Head Big Muff). All are MIJ, true bypass, and built like very small tanks.

The fuzz is an absolute delight, and the chorus nails that first album Stone Roses tone. The TS does TS things.

The only annoying thing is the lack of paint on the smaller knobs. They have an indent in the knobs, but no paint, making them almost impossible to read. I just paint them with some Humbrol white enamel.

It's a bit annoying that they are true bypass. I'd rather have a good buffer.

I’ve got the pink ibanez mini delay. Quite basic but very small and I like its simplicity.
