Silk screen printing / headstock logos

Hi folks

Does anyone have any experience with silk screen printing their own logos etc on headstocks?

If so, what brand of photodeveloper would you recommend trying?

I have all the stuff ready (screen, oil paints, linseed oil, bronze powder etc) apart from some photo developer.

I have a UV led array lamp I use for doing my own PCBs, but that amount of UV might be overkill for a silk screen.

Any thoughts most welcome

I've made them using the Speedball Diazo kit. I use a 500W halogen lamp at 30cm for 30 minutes

I'm still playing around with paint type and viscosity to improve my success rate.

Every year my daughter and I print about 40 T-shirts and we produced these on Sunday.

We cut the mask using T-shirt vinyl and a Cricut machine and then iron it onto the screen and block the sides with parcel tape.

Using photoresist gives much finer detail but vinyl is fine for this application.

paul stuff on YT and his silk screen process looks good - but doesnt specify what he’s using

He's using boiled linseed oil with bronze powder plus some yellow and brown artists oil paint and pigment to give it opacity. Bronze powder alone is a bit transparent, I just use yellow ochre but a bit of brown will tone down the brightness.

Hi Steve. Yep - ive got the paint stuff ready and managed to get some good bronze powder from a restorer in Belgium! Just need to experiment with developer and exposure times.

Coincidentally my silk mesh turned up today all the way from china - 2sq mtrs should be enough!!

I bought ready stretched A5 screens from Screenstretch for this, I stretch my own for the T-shirts
