Fender meets Supro

What's Hot

Did a quick doodle with my guitar running through my fender deluxe reverb and supro black magick. Wacked a cascade fathead ribbon bi-directional mic in-between them and got pretty nice sound.

No, not at all. It sounds great, although it's hard to tell there are two amps. Equally, it would be unusual to get a sound that full and complex from only one amp... if that makes sense :). Not sure why you didn't get any other replies, but I have to admit I didn't click on the thread until now either, I don't know why really! This was not what I expected, I thought it would be about some amp that has elements of both sounds.

Maybe the lack of overdrive is not to most tastes? ;)

There's nothing wrong with your playing, but I can't tell there's two amps in the track either.

I think it’s something in the nature of how people are looking at the forum (and to some extent any social media) so browsing at work, on the bus, on the toilet, walking the dog, whilst the TV is on,etc, that any link that requires a listen/watch often doesn’t get a lot of traction.
I can’t tell that there are two amps but I must have listened to loads of stuff and never gone ‘aha that’s distinctly two amps there’ unless for maybe obvious stereo/dry wet. Often one of those things that when you A-B you can hear it but isn’t obvious by itself.
    So otherwise…
Sounds nice to me, if it works, it works  =)

Thank you very much, this is what I needed to know. It was just a random expreiment with a fender and a supro with a ribbon mic haphazardly positioned between the two.

In regards to your comment thinking it might be about an amp that had an element of both sounds...this is what I was thinking about a lot, looking at amps that had the ability to dial in a number of different flavours, ultimately I wanted an amp that could sound like a Fender at low gain and a Supro at high gain but both in-between....

I was just sitting here looking at them both thinking how to achieve the sound I had in my head. I realised some of my microphones were bi-directional, so I recorded both of them pointed at one microphone running into one preamp with both amps set at similar levels, I pushed the Supro a little more into edge of breakup.

And this is the sound you heard in my recording. Also yes...more overdrive is needed haha. But they were both pretty loud and idk how much I can push my luck with my neighbours, I already had one angry man knocking on my door recently haha.

I was just looking for some feedback on how the amps sound together using one microphone.

Place your mic, then record one amp on, then record a second amp on in, then record them both. That way we can hear the two tones and how they come together.

2 amp is always better than 1
