Even though it hasn’t been on my main board for a while, the DryBell Unit 67 is just brilliant. It doesn’t have the instant wow factor of some pedals like a fuzz, wah or modulation pedals, it’s more subtle, but epic at the same time.
I normally use it in front of a drive pedal or driven amp to just fatten it up, sometimes almost into fuzz territory. The eq and treble boost functions really help to keep it in the mix.
I also use it at home for these purposes, then when it’s late at night, if the amps master volume is a little too sensitive, I can use this pedal to have better control of the volume.
On top of this it’s a clean boost and sustain pedal if needed!
This is the one pedal I doubt I will ever sell.
       What’s yours?

    Came here to say this.

When I bought it, I thought it was a bit of an expensive Gamble, but the demos were so good and it solved a few problems for me including making a lot of space on my board.

I hate having loads of pedals and this one replaced 3 in one shot.

I like a simple easy to set up straightforward rig with a great guitar amp and this sits in between.

    it’s brilliant

I’ve had mine around maybe a month and it really is superb.

It would have to be this. Long story short my Dad owned Gigsounds in Streatham and when he got sick towards the end of his life I really wanted to have this pedal as a reminder of him... he would of sprayed the enclosures as he used to spray cars in a previous life.

I put a WTB on here and @Kebabkid AKA Cos very kindly let me have his. So Kind. And I'm so pleased to have it... it's going nowhere.

My Arion Metal Master. Mainly because I don't think I'll be able to sell it. I've already had it for nearly 4 decades!

    It was my pleasure, Mark.

It was my first pedal and transformed a lifeless Trucker amp into something more akin to the rock sounds I was listening to and once other pedals, amps, multi-fx, even rack systems came in, it sat redundant for years..and it's still working

    All the best

I remember a distortion pedal shoot-out in free mag Making Music, where the Arion Metal Master got an absolute pasting from the reviewer. The winners were (1) Boss DS-1 and (2) Ibanez SD9 iirc.

I think that's unfair - it does what it says on the tin (or plastic box ;) ). It's basically a Boss HM-2 derivative without the weird crossover distortion bit that gives the HM-2 such a distinctive tone. Whether it's worth anything to anyone is a different question...

I think mine would be the Boss DS-1w. It’s the quintessential distortion pedal and does exactly what you’d hope and expect. But it also cleans up with the volume pot incredibly well and can be brilliantly subtle if you want it to.
It is such a good pedal.

I seem to use the Custom mode for single coils and the Standard for humbuckers. It almost does the tweaking for me.

This thread past me by slightly as I wanted to think about it properly and then it got to 5 pages and I stalled.

    Anyhoo...

Crowther Hotcake - the sound of my first originals band. I barely use it these days. I should try it again :)

Rat. My longest-lived pedal, bought as a poor student in 2003 I think. It's an MIC one that doesn't have anything "right" but it sounds like glorious filth.

Asheville ADG-1. The best sounding delay I've ever had, and bought in Asheville the day the current version was launched.

Vemuram Jan Ray. This one is daft. I hate that I love it but it's amazing. Bought for a steal in Japan a few years ago and I want to hate it. But it's magic.

Been thinking about this a lot since the thread started. I could easily choose the super versatile Thorpy Peacekeeper or Warthog, the superb Nordland ODR-CS, maybe the Magnetic Effects Black Moon fuzz. However, and to my own surprise somehow, I'd probably choose Thorpy's Team Medic. Dead easy to use, makes everything sound better, is an 'always on' pedal for me, and I just can't ever imagine not using it. A bit dull to choose an EQ/boost pedal maybe, but it's bloody brilliant.

A few I would reluctantly sell, but which are easily replaceable:

    Rainbow Machine V1
    BitQuest
    Ghost Fax
    Syntax Error
    Beebo

One I could sell but wouldn't pay current prices to replace:

I'm the next town along and I spent many an hour in that shop, it was superb.  Everytime I go past it now and see the Sainsbury's local I think of the old Gigsounds.

I never knew they made their own pedals, I'd have loved one myself just for the local connection.
