Icelandic microbrewery Steðji Hvalur 2 beer is 5.2 per cent alcohol and is made from the highly-unappetising sounding "sheep shit-smoked whale balls”.
Dagbjartur Arilíusson, the brewery's co-owner, explained "We smoke the testicle by the old Icelandic way, with dryed sheep shit, and this method gives the beer a really unique smoke flavour," he said. "At Thorrablot we eat ram´s testical, rotten shark, soured whale fat etc, as we did in the old days. We think this product will suit this festival really well."

The ancient Viking month of Thor, commemorating the Norse god of Thunder, falls between January and February each year. The Vikings celebrated this mid-winter month with plenty of dancing, singing, drinking and merriment, as well as consuming as much of their traditional food as possible.
Typical Vikings ...

It is at least a great website "No, I have not yet earned my horns."
yep, Carling is undrinkable for anyone who regularly drinks most other mainstream lagers. As you say, fosters is pretty much just sweet and tasteless. Carling (and similarly Grolsch) are both old school lagers which have more of a bitter flavour, less sweetness and a bit more hoppy (grolsch is more malty).
The truth of the matter is that most people don't actually like lager. they like artificially sweetened lager drinks that need to be served super chilled to ensure any actual lager flavours are totally masked
Most brewers are trying to hit the sweet spot these days. drinkers want sweeter drinks with less actual flavour and many brands have had ABV lowered purely based on these taste tests. not just in the UK (Tax reasons), it even happened to corona brewed in Mexico.
