Buckethead is okay in small doses. A great player, and serves up plenty of 'WTF'? moments that keep you guessing and guessing how he got certain sounds.

Problem with Buckethead is that he releases so much stuff it's hard to keep up.

Love all Satch's stuff, Paul Gilbert & Vai too. Tastes have changed over last few years (think they call it getting old!) - favourite two instrumental albums at present are Jim Campilongo - 'Orange' & Michael Landau's 'Organic Instrumentals' - Landau's live versions of 'Ghouls & the Goblins' are even better than the record - astonishing player

Tuck Andress - Reckless Precision is a favourite

as are Artistry and Spirit of Django by Martin Taylor , Only by Tommy Emmanuel ... I guess I prefer my guitar instrumental stuff laid back and Jazzy ....

Andre Nieri is the only recent instrumental player I've heard recently that has got my interest. I love his mix of fingerstyle and picking and the blend of acoustic and electric on this track:

Can't believe I forgot to mention Alan Murphy's SFX album earlier. That's the instrumental guitar album I listen to most. Less off the beaten track than Holdsworth, but equally inventive and mind-bogglingly fluent.

I saw them open for Tesseract end of last year. They bored the living piss out of me. More notes doesn't make it interesting.
