I have a Recording King lap steel with a P90 pickup. I love it, but boy does that pickup hum. I was planning to replace the pickup with a noiseless P90 but it occurred to me that I have some Tele pickups sitting in a box not being used. Is it possible to wire up a dummy coil using an existing pickup? If so, will it be effective?
Or would I be better off just shelling out for a new pickup now and saving myself a massive ball-ache?
