I'll keep it brief.
I want a VH4.
I have someone who may be willing to trade his VH4 and Columbus which both look in excellent condition for my PRS Custom 24 + £250.
I don't think that seems like too bad of a deal. The PRS is a little bruised in places and does show some signs of use and wear. Nothing major. Just mainly a few dings, buckle rash etc.
I've been it's only owner.
But.
I checked the serial numbers, and it's from 2002.
It's already nearly 14 years old. It's not going to depreciate any more and will only rise in value I would expect.
I never use it and it just sits in a case.
It does have a lot of sentimental value.
I never use it.
I love it.
It never sees the light of day.
The VH4 is more useful to me.
I *think* I'd miss that guitar. Even though I haven't gigged it for years.
I want a VH4. I have other guitars.
Can't afford VH4 outright right now.
When I was photographing it, it brought back a lot of memories.
Wut do???????????

I've sold hundreds of things. I've wanted maybe half a dozen of them back after they were gone, but damn if I haven't missed those things. I've only been able to get back two of them - the Celestion Blues I used on my band's first album and foolishly sold. My Drum kit, the AC30 combo I used for 4 years of gigs, the Squire Strat I learned to play on... they're gone and why did I sell them? To buy other stuff I've long since sold.
I know people say they're not sentimentally attached to gear, and neither am I except that we keep memories in these objects and memories matter.
If you want the VH4, let it be the reason you work those late studio nights (assuming that's still what you do?)

I think the condition has put him off a little. It's not in bad condition. Just a few more than he was expecting.
I'm not expecting it to appreciate in the next few years, but after that, maybe.
I guess that's the dilemma.
(Not that there is one now anyway.)
Plus, I think I want a Herbert more...
If I could be arsed to post pics up, I would do.
No loss.
I'll just hang on to it.
I never use it but it makes me smile more than any amp ever could.
I'm not actually sure there is a sensible sum of money that would make me part with it.
I did try to sell it once before on eBay.
I had a change of heart and tried to end the auction and cancel bids etc.
It ended up being "sold" for about £10.63.
I nearly cried. Then promptly emailed the buyer and said NO WAY!!
Fortunately he was cool.
I kinda took that as an omen.
I guess GAS got a grip.
I'll just go buy a Herbert. I'd rather that than lose this guitar.
Thanks for somewhat helping me not lose the plot, chaps.
